Register of offset credit projects

The register of offset credit projects is a database that provides information and documentation on various offset credit projects eligible for the issuance of offset credits under the offset credit component of the Québec C&T system. By referring to this register, which is updated each second and fourth non-holiday Wednesday of the month, anyone interested in the activities of the offset credit component can track a project’s progress and consult documents pertaining to the project’s planning and implementation (e.g., project or verification report).

Title modified project Réduction d'émissions de GES aux LES et LET de La Lièvre
Description of the modifications The project modification is mainly to connect the engineered landfill to the existing biogas capture and destruction system at the site of La Lièvre. The initial project involved only the sanitary landfill containing 314,015 tonnes of waste and including a total of 26 extraction wells. The modified project extend the biogas collection system to the engineered landfill, containing 114,138 tonnes in November 30, 2015, via three new extraction wells. The connection of the engineered landfill to the sanitary landfill system was completed on November 26, 2015.

Summary description of the project Marchand engineered landfill is in operation since 2006. According to the requirements of the Certificate of Approval, the landfill gas is passively vented to the atmosphere. The main objective of the project is to actively collect the landfill gas produced and burned it in an enclosed flare in order to reduce, on a volontary basis, the emissions of GHG to the atmosphere.

Summary description of the project A landfill gas extraction and destruction system will be established and commissioned at the Saint-Flavien engineered landfill site in the region of Lotbinière in 2016. The greenhouse gas emission reductions thus obtained will be recorded within Protocol 2 of the Québec cap-and-trade system for greenhouse gas emission allowances. This protocol provides a framework for the creation of offsets via methane thermal oxidation in flare on a voluntary basis. According to initial estimates, the project will result in a reduction in emissions estimated at around 100,000 tons carbon equivalent over 10 years.

Project title Captage et destruction des biogaz – LET de la Nouvelle-Beauce
Summary description of the project A landfill gas extraction and destruction system is in place on a portion of the LET of La Nouvelle-Beauce in Frampton. Biogases are collected by vertical wells and fowarded to a network of collection lines to a flare for destruction. As landfills grow on the site, new extraction wells (horizontal and vertical) will be built in the waste mass.

Summary description of the project A biogas collection system is expected to be in place on the closed Landfill managed by la Régie régionale des gestions des matières résiduelles de Portneuf, located in Neuville. Biogas will be collected by vertical wells and routed via a collector pipeline to an existing invisible flame flare for destruction. The networks of the closed landfill is distinct from the landfill in operation.
